"the old lie"

According to the Ministry of Defence, the army does not glamorise war nor target children under the age of 16.
This is a lie.
The army runs public, half-term recruitment activities aimed at children.
The army sends recruiters into school. When they were in their early teens, my children had to attend compulsory recruitment talks from the army in their state comprehensive school. Parents were not warned in advance. They encountered less obvious marketing ploys when at primary school. Again, there was an army presence in the schools.
The army uses our taxes to recruit our children.

I wonder how you propose we secure the stated objective of this blog, "....preservation of liberty and democracy in Britain...." without active recruiting.
The only anomaly here is that the armed forces feel obliged to adopt "the old lie", presumably deemed necessary to resist attacks from submissive liberals eager to destroy what remains of our culture.
I'm a pacifist (not necessarily a position shared by all contributors to this blog). I recognize that this is a minority position.
I think recruitment should be aimed at adults. I'm shocked and incredulous that the RAF website has a section aimed at children from the age of 8.
The way in which the army is run, whatever its ostensible objectives in action, seems to have little to do with democracy or liberty.
I don't think liberty and democracy are best preserved by surrendering them.
For myself, I think that the rejection of violence carries with it a responsible to take non-violent direct action if necessary. Again, this view is not necessarily shared by other authors of this blog.
